Release:

We will not release the child to anyone other than a parent, unless we have been previously informed of the person’s name taking the child home.

If there are custody issues where a parent is not permitted to take a child there must be a letter in the child’s file.

Arrival/Departures:

The school opens promptly at 9am and 1pm.  The teachers are not available during lunchtime (1130am-1pm).  Children should not arrive earlier unless there is a special reason and the staff have been informed prior to arrival.

Prompt pickup of your child at 1130am and 330pm is necessary.  If you are unavoidably delayed, please let us known and make other arrangements for taking your child home.

At the end of class,  staff members will bring the children down as a group and meet you outisde at the nursery school door.  The teachers will dismiss your child, please do not call your child to you.  This is o not to have the children running in the parking lot.

Student Training:

We participate in the cooperative programs of the local high schools.  These programs give Grade 11 and 12 students experience in a work place, in our case, an introduction to Early Childhood Education (ECE).

We also participate in the placement of ECE students from the surrounding colleges.  This provides them with an opportunity to interact directly with young children and their familes.

Attendance:

We appreciate being notified, in advance if possible, if your child is to be absent and the reason for the absence.  This is important so we can keep track of any illness.  If your child becomes ill on the weekend, please leave a message on the answering machine.

Dress:

In spite of our best efforts, spills and spots do happen when we are enthusiastically involved with paints, etc.  We therefore recommend that your child wears play clothes, which wash easily.

Please take a moment and label all your childs clothing! (coats, boots, hats, mittens).  This saves time for the teachers and stress for the children as to what belongs to them.  Sometimes they forget what belongs to them.  Due to safety concerns please keep umbrellas at home.  If your child requires one, keep it with you when you drop off your child.

Toys:

We have lots of toys for the children to play with, so we recommend that personal toys and other valuables stay at home as these itmes may get broken or lost.  Once during the year, we have the theme of Community Helpers, if you would like to share some aspect of your profession with us, you will find that we are a very appreciative audience.
